Knoxville Force vs East Tennessee Hispanic All-Stars

At Oak Ridge High School, Oak Ridge, Tennessee

6/30/12

Head Coach, Stephen Lyons

In sweltering temperatures Knoxville faced a Hispanic All Star team at Oak Ridge High School on Saturday night.  Both teams started by creating their chances and in the 16th minute Travis Bolton forced a fine save from the All Stars goalkeeper.  We created a few good opportunities from wide areas, but failed to deliver with any quality deliveries into the box.  In the 35th minute Gary Higgins looked to have given Knoxville the lead when he ran in being the all-star defense to guide the ball into the side netting only for it to be called back for offside.  The All Stars also had a few chances, but were unable to get past Wez Bernard in the Force goal.  At half time the score was 0-0.

After the break Knoxville were again looking to break the dead lock.  A sequence of corner kick kept the All Star keeper busy and Joe Townsend had a great opportunity that he just headed over the bar from A Naill McCabe delivery.  That was to be Naill’s last influence on the game as he was shown a second yellow card and Knoxville were down to 10 men.   Given the conditions and being a man down the game slowed a little in the second half.  However, in the  84th minute the Force managed to break the deadlock when Travis Bolton won the ball and found Robbie Jill on the edge of the box who unleashed a quality strike into the bottom corner of the All Star goal and make it 1-0.  That proved to be the last action of the game and it finished 1-0 Knoxville.  Knoxville play their last regular season game on Friday in Atlanta against the Silverbacks.
